I’m having a pretty sweet Friday! Jarrod finally agreed to take down our (relatively new) office door and replace it with a beautifully aged vintage one! I was inspired by these Pinterest images.
I’ve been itching to paint an interior door something other than white for a while now. Sherwin Williams “Urbane Bronze” is all over my Pinterest feed so I decided to give it a shot. It’s a gorgeous, dark slate color. (Super thick, took three coats…but beautiful!) Then I hit it with 220 grit sandpaper to allow a little original paint to peek through. The last step was a light coat of hemp oil to bring back the shine. Have you used Hemp Oil? It’s an easy, durable alternative to wax.
We applied this “Etched Glass” window film to the back side of the glass and added black peel & stick mailbox letters from Walmart to the front. Eventually I’ll replace it with more professional (and straight) vinyl lettering but this was quick, easy, and inexpensive. Jarrod reattached our glass knob and voila, we’ve got some serious character in the hallway! Hurray for our first home project of 2015!
Now I’m itching to update the office a bit…
Some other projects on the horizon are: building a farmhouse style table, finishing the wood flooring in our bedroom, painting bathroom cabinets, and organizing the heck out of this joint by following the 14 Week Organizing Challenge by A Bowl Full of Lemons. What’s on your home improvement list this year?
