I love Oregon so participating in a bloggers round-up showcasing our beautiful state was a no brainer. What came to mind? Pendleton. Wool & Whiskey to be specific.Whiskey. I thought I’d burned too many bridges with it in college but I tell you what, I love this Pendleton Whiskey! My friend Katie Ralls of Katie Michelle Designs and I came up with this DE-licious Pendleton Whiskey Blackberry Limeade! Be careful. You could drink this alllll night. Katie is a talented central Oregon calligraphy artist who creates the most gorgeous wedding invitations, prints, tshirts, mugs… She just whipped up this recipe printable the other night, no big deal 😉 Whether you make this cool summer limeade or not, print this baby out on card stock and display it on an old clipboard in the kitchen or pop it in a frame you have laying around. But how cool would YOU be if you invited some friends over for these refreshing Oregon cocktails and had the art print just hangin’ out there in your drink area.
Can you tell I like this whiskey? She gone… Katie is offering free shipping for you guys with code: PINKTUMBLEWEED through the 21st. Click here for some adorable stuff to start the school year with.
To make the blackberry simpe syrup you bring 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup of sugar, and the blackberries to a boil for a few minutes and strain. You can also make a delicous non-alcholic version of this limeade by omitting the whiskey and adding carbonated water. I mean you can’t enjoy a beautiful pinkish purple drink in front of the kids without sharing.
Onto wool. Pendleton Woolen Mills have been in business for 150 years and their Native American prints are absolutely stunning. And addicting. I have too many blankets and pillows to count but I’ve been coveting one of Toby Keough’s upholstered works of art for YEARRRRS. Farm Chicks 2016 I marched straight to Toby’s booth and bought her most beautiful creation yet! She was just a little reluctant to let it go 🙂 You can find Toby’s chairs here.
Look at the piece of embroidery she added to the side. I cannot get over it.
Another talented artisan who features Pendleton Wool is Charity West, owner of Mercy Grey Design Co. out of Portland, Oregon. I have some of her pillows and one day I just know I’ll purchase one of her gorgeous bags. Charity is offering 10% off through August 14th just for you guys with code: Woolandwhiskey16. Hurry over there and get a few things!
If you go to Pendleton go directly to the woolen mill for a tour and a whole room full of factory seconds for a great price. There’s so much to see it’s overwhelming. I recently bought a throw that I intended to sew into a cape for this post but I just don’t have the heart to cut it…
Pendleton has the coolest old west cowboy and Indian culture. The Pendleton Round-up rodeo is known world-wide and unlike any other. But hey, if you go make sure you don’t stumble into the Let ‘er Buck room without googling it first… Concerts, the Happy Canyon night show, dress up parade, teepee village, Indian relay race… It’s a crazy good time.
Make sure you check out the other bloggers in this round-up.
